What’s “The Concert of Yamatouta”?
Beautiful language and spirit of Manyoshu joined with Western music – it is a new musical genre originally created by Naomi Utamakura. We do not know the reason, but there is something familiar in it even if we listen to it for the first time. The crystal voice tells us stories about the origin of Japanese people.

There are many types of poems in Manyoshu: songs of praise, songs of aging people, songs about relatives etc. Even now, we are able to understand the ancient sensitivity which have been conveyed to present times. “The Concert of Miyabi uta” is a concert of ancient Japanese poetry combined with contemporary music in which appears the concept of Japaneseness.
